Artwork Description
This work begins with the accumulation of dozens of layers of colorful acrylic paint to realize a unique physicality or material property. Once the thick surface is completely dry, a subsequent process of finely cutting or carving with a carving knife takes place. This unique technique exposes the colors of the hidden lower layers in cross-section, much like geological strata, offering a visual effect with depth, as well as a special tactile experience.
The abstract formal language of the work is inspired by familiar images such as elements of nature and emojis.
Ultimately, under the title 'Oneness', the piece captures the philosophical contemplation that, scientifically, all things in the micro-world are connected by a single origin. The way individual colors and layers (diverse existences) gather to form a single work (the world), and when the cross-section is cut, all colors coexist once again, powerfully conveys the thematic consciousness of harmony (Unity) and oneness visually.
